Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission (KPEC), established by the PTI led provincial government has filed 24 references in last two years of its inception, said annual report 2016 of the anti-graft agency of the province. The commission in its first year of operation filed 11 references of corruption during the first year of 2015 while the remaining 13 were filed in the last 2016. The amount involved in the corruption references was to the tone of Rs 3.310 billion.

The references filed during the year 2015, were included illegal mining in Mama Khel against 8 accused involving an amount of Rs 328.62 million. The other references were included Asset Case (Ex-DAO, AG Office), Nowshera, TMA Nowshera, Town-I & Town-III Peshawar, Ex-Minister Excise & Taxation KP, General Bus Stands Peshawar, Illegal Changing of Plots in KDA Kohat, EPI Department/DG Health Office Peshawar, Illegal Appointments (Mines & Mineral Department), Industrial Training Centre (ITC) Peshawar and Working Women Hostel, Social Welfare Department, Peshawar respectively.

Similarly, the 13 references during last calendar year 2016 were included Tangi Chromite Case involving an amount of Rs 1.064 billion against five accused followed by Sahara Mineral Case involving an amount of Rs 666.30 million against four accused.

Other references were included Illegal Allotment of Provincial Land in Mauza Jarma, Asset Case (Senior Auditor, DAO), Shangla, Against Officers & Officials of TMA/CMO Kohat, Babuzai Lime Stone Case, Feld Spar Case, Assets Case (Ex-Secretary Excise & Taxation), Misappropriation in Insaf Food Program Fund (District Administration Department D.I. Khan), Against Officers & Officials of TMA/MCP (Town-I), Peshawar, Misuse of Authority by Officers of Islamia College University, Peshawar, Charsadda Bus Stand and Text Book Board (Part-I).

All 24 references are under trial, including 13 references filed in 2016 and yet to be decided. Out of total 79 accused, 58 were arrested while the remaining 21 were sent for trial without arrest. Similarly, during the said period, a total of 798 complaints were registered against different provincial departments and organisations. Out of which bulk of complaints (98) were registered against Elementary and Secondary Education Department during 2016, which the report said might be due to the fact that it is one of the biggest provincial Department. Moreover, due to high number of stakeholders in education sector (students and parents), the number of complaints was high.
